The next device is not a screen. It is a place.
This page is direction, not roadmap. Nothing here is scheduled, and the current work does not depend on it arriving. It is written so that the near-term work; the layer, the governance, the experiments; can be judged against where it is meant to lead.
The computer is not the endpoint
The next device is not a smaller screen. It is a place.
The computer as we know it is a workspace: something you sit at, something that holds your work while you are at it, and something that stops being you the moment you close the lid. The layer Unifyhub is building points toward a different shape. A home appliance, in the sense the household once understood it: a device anyone owns, in their own space, that connects to their private systems and to the systems of the communities they belong to.
It is not a computer you use. It is a representation of you that is always connected: synced across multiple nodes, all the time, with local and cloud backup as a property of the system rather than a setting you configure. It orchestrates what you do across your personal life and your work; the household, the practice, the community, the organization; under the same identity, the same policy, the same audit, the same revocable delegation this site describes.
What changes for a person
A person's coordination is no longer scattered across a dozen captured tools, each holding a fragment of who they are and each making leaving harder. The appliance is the front door to a private space that the person owns: their identity, their record, their delegations, their agents. The work that happens there is legible to the person, inspectable by the community when they choose to make it so, and revocable at any moment.
The advantages are the ones the layer already promises, taken to the scale of a life:
Synced across nodes. The same state, local and cloud, on your hardware and on the partners' infrastructure, without the person managing any of it.
Local and cloud backup by default. Continuity is a property of the architecture, not a feature you buy.
A digital representation. Your agents act under your identity, within your policy, with a record that shows what they did and why they were permitted to do it.
What it means for the layer
This is why the layer is built hybrid from the start. A future in which everyone has a private, synced, orchestrated space is a future in which the same contracts run at household scale; identity that travels, policy that is enforced, audit that is inspectable, events that are durable, migration that is credible. The multi-node cluster that hosts Unifyhub today, across regions and with partners, is the same shape at community scale: the infrastructure is not the product, and it is not owned by the people it serves.
The appliance does not replace the community. It gives every member of it a place to stand: their own space, their own representation, and the layer that keeps both honest.
This is stated as direction so that a decision that quietly forecloses it is visible when it is made. It is not a promise and it is not a schedule. If the ordinary work fails, none of this matters. If it succeeds, this is one of the things it was for.
