We believe software should strengthen the communities that use it.
We believe software should strengthen the communities that use it
On most platforms, every year of use makes your data harder to move, your relationships more fragile, and your community more dependent on a single vendor. The system locks tighter over time.
We reject that.
We build for capacity
A community's ability to coordinate, govern, operate, and create value should grow with every tool it uses. Captivity is the failure mode we design against: if leaving destroys a community's ability to understand or reuse its own record, the system has failed.
Trust is structural
Who can change the rules, what happened, who acted: all of it inspectable and accountable, independent of any person's goodwill. Trust that requires faith in a person dies with the person.
The contract belongs to the community
Identity, policy, audit, events, migration: these are the shared agreements, public, stable, and owned by the people who depend on them. Every product is one implementation, replaceable by design.
Exit is a right
Export, migration, portable identity: a credible path out is what makes staying a choice rather than a sentence. Value that survives the freedom to leave is the only value worth building.
Values come first
We start from trust, sovereignty, shared memory, stewardship, and belonging, and build the tools that protect them. Capability that arrives without values becomes capture every time.
Ownership passes to the community
A founder starts it; the community is meant to own it. Until the handover, the founder works in the open and under limits, and the handover is written down before it is needed. After it, the people who act on the community's behalf are elected by the community on the record of what they have contributed. No investor buys the right to change that. Authority here is delegated, inspectable, and revocable; by the people who gave it.
Trust is the unit of measure
A contributor's standing is not a title, a headcount, or a line in an org chart. It is the trust the community has earned a right to place in them, built in the open on past achievement related to this work, and visible to everyone. Trust makes a member eligible to represent Unifyhub; only an election by the community makes them a representative. Trust that cannot be inspected is not trust; it is faith, and faith is not a governance model.
